Crochet Basics: How to crochet a hexagon

To crochet this hexagon:
I used ecru cotton and a 1.5mm hook. I used treble throughout (aka, US double crochet / DC).
Chain 7 (next time I'll try 5 or 6 to reduce the size of the hole) and join to create a ring.
First round - Chain 3 (that counts as your first treble), treble 17 into the ring and then join to the 3rd chain of your first chain 3 you made.
2nd round - chain 3. *Treble into next stitch, chain 2, treble into the same stitch (you just created your first corner), treble into each of the next 2 stitches. Repeat from * 4 times, then follow for the 5th time, but omit the last treble, instead join into the 3rd chain of the first chain 3 you made. You will have 4 trebles on each side of your hexagon.
3rd round - chain 3, treble into next stitch. *Treble into the chain 2 space from the previous round, chain 2, treble into the same space, treble into each of the next 4 stitches. Repeat from * 4 times, then follow for the 5th time, but omit the last 2 trebles and instead join into the 3rd chain of the first chain 3 you made. You will have made 6 trebles on each side of your hexagon.
4th round - chain 3, treble into next 3 stitches. *Treble into the chain 2 space from the previous round, chain 2, treble into the same space, treble into each of the next 6 stitches. Repeat from * 4 times, then follow for the 5th time, but omit the last 4 trebles and instead join into the 3rd chain of the first chain 3 you made. You will have made 8 trebles on each side of your hexagon.
I made 4 rounds only, but you can keep going, increasing the number of trebles on each side by 2 in each round.
